The coastal surveillance radar have functions of detecting and tracking sea/lake targets. It can detect moving or stationary ship targets in offshore/lakeshore waters within a range of 16 km. Radar uses frequency hoping, pulse compression, constant false alarm (CFAR) target detection, automatic clutter cancellation, multi-target tracking and other advanced radar technologies, even in harsh sea conditions, radar can still search sea (or lake) surface for small vessel targets (such as small fishing boats). According to the target tracking information and ship location information provided by the coastal surveillance radar, the operator can select the ship target which needs to be concerned and guide the photoelectric imaging equipment to aim at the ship target to carry out remote visual confirmation of the ship target.
The monitoring computer of the coastal surveillance radar can display the coordinate position of the target ship on the radar scanning screen in a visual way, and can also display the positioning information of the target ship in th=e certain target area. On the radar display screen, the operator can also choose to display the background images of sea/lake shorelines, land and islands around the detected waters, as well as the background image information of the detected and tracked ship targets. In addition, the monitoring computer will update the relevant parameter information and status information at any time to maintain the real-time status of the target.
The radar operator can adjust the range of surveillance to 4km or 16km according to the requirements of detection range on the monitoring computer, or adjust the range of radar scan to ±45°, ±90° or ±135° according to the requirements of detection angle. At the same time, the working mode of fixed frequency or fast frequency conversion can be selected according to the severity of sea conditions, and the receiving gain can be adjusted according to the influence of clutter or background size, so as to improve the detection and tracking performance of radar. The operator can also choose to display or turn off the radar background image as required.
The radar display and control system also provides (optional) AIS/GIS ship information and digital map overlay function, which can be preset in the monitoring computer to show the digital map of sea/lake area, and can choose to overlay the digital map on the radar scanning screen to improve the radar operator's judgment of the specific position of the ship.
